Buyer Reality
Where Most can bus cable Programs Slip.
Issue #01
CAN-H / CAN-L 120 ohm termination drift detunes ringing
ISO 11898-2 calls for 120 ohm characteristic impedance with 60 ohm split termination. Cable drift to 105 ohm rings the falling edge into the recessive bit and trips arbitration errors. We hold 120 ± 6 ohm per reel and ship test data with every harness.
Issue #02
Two-wire twist lay length wrong by 25%
ISO 11898-2 §7.2.4 requires twist-pair lay length under 40 mm for 1 Mbps; vendor cable at 50 mm couples ground noise into the differential pair. Our incoming inspection measures lay length on a Schleuniger MultiCoil before release.
Issue #03
CANopen DR daisy-chain stub exceeds 0.3 m at 1 Mbps
Stub lengths over 0.3 m at 1 Mbps create reflection nodes that fail CANopen CiA 301 conformance. We pre-build daisy-chain T-junction harnesses with stub length printed on the label and verified per build.
Issue #04
Deutsch DT pin-2 open from over-crimp
DT04-3P pin 2 (CAN-H by SAE J1939 convention) opens at 6 weeks when the operator over-crimps the 16 AWG terminal beyond the 7.5 N·m limit. We use Deutsch HDT-48-00 die per pin family with verified compression height.
Issue #05
CAN FD 5 Mbps fails with shielded pair grounded both ends
ISO 11898-2:2016 CAN FD up to 5 Mbps requires shield grounded one end only — both-end ground creates ground loops that mask dominant bits. Our build instruction locks shield drain to the ECU end per customer reference design.
What We Build
The Capability Stack Behind The Build.
ISO 11898-2 conformance on every harness
On-site Vector CANalyzer + VN5640 verifies ISO 11898-2 physical-layer conformance — bit timing, dominant/recessive levels, ringing — on every CAN-bus harness before sample release.
SAE J1939 / CiA 301 build library
Pre-qualified pinouts for SAE J1939 (heavy-duty), CiA 301 CANopen (industrial), ISO 15765 OBD-II — locked to customer drawing rev with terminal-level alternates pre-priced.
Deutsch DT / DTM / DTP termination cell
Deutsch HDT-48-00 hand crimper plus Komax Alpha 530 automated cell carry every die for DT, DTM, DTP, ATM connector families. Crimp height SPC archived per shift.
120 ohm twist-pair impedance gating
Every CAN-bus reel TDR-swept at receiving against 120 ± 6 ohm per ISO 11898-2 §7.2. Out-of-spec lots returned to vendor; Belden 3105A and Lapp Unitronic Bus FD pre-qualified.
Vector CANalyzer ISO 11898 bench
Vector VN5640 + CANalyzer 17 on-site — full bit-timing analysis, eye diagram, dominant/recessive level capture per ISO 11898-2:2016 (CAN FD up to 5 Mbps).

Scenario
A US commercial EV manufacturer reported a quality escape where a specific harness was built with an incorrect connector.
Challenge
The specified part number for connector C49C-F (DTCE06-1-8S-E003) was swapped for a different component, causing a specification mismatch and halting the customer's assembly line.
Outcome
Resolved the quality escape rapidly; the customer continued placing high-volume production orders despite the initial setback, demonstrating restored trust.
Anonymized customer detail. Concrete numbers preserved verbatim.
Section 301 tariff-free origin under GSP/RCEP frameworks
PPAP Level 3 generated during sample run, not retro-fitted
Cirris CR/CH 100% continuity and 1500 V HiPot
