Common-mode voltage 1500V at IGBT switching damages bearings
PWM dv/dt above 5 kV/µs at the IGBT pulses common-mode voltage spikes through motor bearings — pitting failure at 6 months. Our VFD cable uses symmetric 3-conductor + 3-ground geometry per NEC 300.22 with low-Zo capacitance balanced to ±3%.

Symmetric ground vs L-ground capacitance imbalance triggers RFI
L-ground asymmetric VFD geometry creates 18% capacitance imbalance that radiates 30-150 MHz and trips EN 55011 Class A. We stock Belden 29504 / Lapp Olflex VFD-Servo 2YSLCY-J with symmetric grounds and pre-qualified ground capacitance per IEEE 1349.

PVC jacket cracks at 50C ambient + 100C conductor
Standard PVC jacket cracks under sustained 100 C conductor temperature combined with 50 C ambient — the cumulative load fails UL 1277 TC-ER thermal-life. Our XLPE/CPE-jacket VFD cable is rated 90 C continuous with 130 C overload per UL 1277.

Vacuum voids in the conductor screen layer ionize at 1 kV PD inception — wrong for 480V drives running 1300 V peak. Our incoming inspection runs partial-discharge per IEC 60270 at 1.5 × Uo on every 1000 ft reel and rejects > 5 pC.

Bonding the shield only at one end resonates at 5 MHz
Single-end shield bonds turn the VFD cable into a 5 MHz quarter-wave antenna — radiated EMI fails at the wall. NEMA MG-1 §31.4 calls for both-end bonding via 360-degree EMC glands; our terminations use Roxtec / Lapp Skintop with documented contact resistance.
