Issue #01
FFC pitch creep from 1.0 mm to 0.97 mm trips ZIF latch
Etched-foil FFC widths drift from 1.0 mm nominal to 0.97 mm at the lamination stage; the JST 05FMZ-BT ZIF latch then over-grips and shears the conductor at insertion cycle 12. Our incoming inspection gauges pitch on a Keyence IM-7000 against the customer drawing tolerance band, not a vendor data sheet.

FPC stiffener delaminates after 3,000 dynamic-flex cycles
PI stiffener bonded with the wrong acrylic adhesive peels at the FFC tail after IPC-TM-650 §2.4.3 dynamic flex testing. We bond stiffeners with DuPont LF0110 or Pyralux FR coverlay per IPC-6013D Class 3 — reflow-survival qualified.

FFC reverse-insertion bends conductor 180 degrees
0.5 mm-pitch FFC inserted backward into a non-keyed ZIF actuator folds the trace and shorts to ground after one re-mate. Our serialized printing adds a polarity dot per IPC/WHMA-A-620 §2.5 plus a colored pull tab — the operator and the field tech see orientation in one glance.

Ribbon mass-termination IDC pierces wrong conductor
3M 3550 IDC mass terminations on FFC fail when the contact spacing does not match the FFC pitch within ±0.05 mm. Our IDC cell holds pitch jigs at 1.0, 1.27, and 2.54 mm with go/no-go fixtures verified per shift.

FFC end-strip exposes copper beyond contact window
Laser end-stripping removes too much PET coverlay — exposed copper outside the ZIF contact zone shorts when the EMI shroud closes. Our LPKF U4 laser strip is set per drawing strip-length tolerance ±0.1 mm and inspected with AOI on every strip.

LPKF U4 picosecond UV laser strips PET coverlay without scoring the underlying copper. Strip-length tolerance ±0.1 mm — verified on 100% of strips with Cognex AOI.
